Alabama’s Kirk Jay finishes third on ‘The Voice’
Jay performed “Back to Life” with Rascal Flatts on Tuesday night's two-hour season finale.

MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - Montgomery resident Kirk Jay finished as the second runner up on NBC’s “The Voice” Tuesday night.

Chevel Shepherd is the winner of the 15th season.

Jay was one of four singers who fought through dozens of other competitors to make it to the finals.

During the two-hour finale Tuesday night, Jay performed “Back to Life” with Rascal Flatts - an opportunity he called “surreal.”

Jay’s journey on “The Voice” started when all four of the judges turned their chairs while he sang “God Bless the Broken Road” by Rascal Flatts during the blind auditions.

Kirk travels the South with his band, Kirk Jay and Kuntry Funk.
