MADISON, AL (WAFF) - City leaders broke ground on the first retailer at the Town Madison development on Friday.
Duluth Trading Co. is opening its first store in Alabama, and company officials say they were attracted to the growing community in Madison.
The 560-acre development will have restaurants, stores, offices, and a luxury apartment complex.
City leaders say the ripple effects of this announcement go beyond just creating a new hub for the community.
“These dollars that will be created here will lead to the next fire station in Madison, the next high school, the next middle school. This is how you build an economy, letting the people spend their money here locally,” said Madison County Commission Chairman Dale Strong.
Officials say the store will be ready to open in about six months.
