Mars Hill wins 1A football state championship

AUBURN, AL (WAFF) - A magical run for the Mars Hill Bible School football team has ended with a state championship.

The Panthers (14-1) lost only one game to 4A Brooks (9-3) this season. The Panthers only lost that game by a point.

Mars Hill recorded four shutouts and held four other teams to under ten points.

CHAMPIONSHIP GAME AGAINST LINDEN

Mars Hill set the tone early. Very early. The Panthers scored a touchdown on the first play from scrimmage to take the 7-0 lead.

Mars Hill would post 3 more touchdowns to take the 26-6 lead at the half.

The Panthers started the third quarter with a Joseph Hanson pick-six to go up 32-6. Linden would respond with a touchdown, but would fail to get the two-point conversion.

The Patriots and Panthers would continue to trade scores in the fourth quarter. Mars Hill managed to match the Patriot offense to prevent the rally.

The final score was 53-26 in favor of Mars Hill.
