Huntsville store owner talks wishlist-worthy toys

HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) - Toy stores in Huntsville have been preparing for months for the holiday toy rush.

Huntsville Learning Express toy store owner Rebecca Vergara told WAFF preparations began long before the tinsel and trees went up.

“We start bringing in toys in June and then watch the trend in August, September, October and then we order heavily on the things we sold really well during those months," said Vergara.

Some of the more popular toys Vergara has seen this season are the Laser X at-home laser tag game, the Scruff-a-Luvs interactive stuffed animals, and anything with sequins.

The most popular toy at her store has been the Fresh Mart grocery play set.

Vergara has some tips for shoppers who want popular toys that are sold out.

“I would just wait because it will be available again in January. Unfortunately, it’s not something you can give on Christmas day like you want to but, it’s better than paying $300 for a toy your child will play with for a couple of months," said Vergara.

Vergara said it’s also worth it to call stores ahead of time to see if they have what you are looking for in stock.
