Auburn to play Purdue in the Music City Bowl

HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -The the first meeting ever between Auburn and Purdue will take place int the 21st annual Franklin American Music City Bowl.

The game is set for at 12:30 p.m. kickoff Dec. 28 (ESPN) at Nissan Stadium.

Auburn ended the season with a 7-5 overall record and 3-5 in the SEC. The team lost their final regular season game to No. 1 Alabama 52-21

Auburn played in the 2003 Music City Bowl where they beat Wisconsin 28-14 in front of a crowd of 55,109.

It will be the first time for Purdue to play in the Music City Bowl.

Purdue posted a 6-6 overall record and 5-4 record in the Big Ten. The Boilermakers finished the regular season with a 28-21 win over Indiana after losing to Minnesota 41-10 and Wisconsin 47-44 in triple overtime.

Purdue played last year in the Foster Farms Bowl and defeated Arizona 38-35.

Kentucky and Northwestern played in the Music City Bowl last year.
