HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) - Huntsville police are investigating a child’s death.
Madison County Deputy Coroner Tyler Berryhill said the victim is a 2-year-old girl. He said it appears to be a hot car death. They have scheduled an autopsy Friday to confirm the cause.
Police said the child was left in the car for a lengthy period of time during the day Thursday. Investigators said a parent was driving the car and, after realizing something was wrong, pulled over outside a business on South Memorial Parkway near Airport Road.
The child was dead in the backseat. Her death has been ruled accidental.
There were no signs of injuries. The investigation is ongoing.
